Terms of Use

The rules for using this website, such as they are.

What this is

The Exertist is a publication. Reading it is the whole of the relationship: there are no accounts, nothing to sign up for and nothing to agree to beyond these terms, which apply to anyone who uses the site. If you do not accept them, the remedy is to stop reading, which we would rather you did not.

What we publish

Everything on this site is built on real facts and real research, presented with less respect than the facts are used to. Where a piece gives an opinion, it is an opinion, and it is ours. Nothing here is legal, medical, financial or safety advice. The Science-ish section in particular is written by a publication, not a doctor: the science in it is checked, the tone is not clinical, and the exceptions are yours to apply. If a piece tells you that thirst is a fine guide to drinking water and your doctor has told you something else, your doctor wins.

Accuracy and corrections

We try to be right, and we would rather be late than wrong, which explains a great deal about our publishing schedule. When we are wrong we fix the page and set the updated date at the top of it. A joke that depends on a false premise is a false claim and gets the same treatment. If you find one, send the address of the page and the sentence to info@exertist.com. We will not argue with you about an opinion, and we will not take a piece down because someone would prefer it gone. We will fix a fact.

Everything on this site is © The Exertist unless it says otherwise. Quote us, with our name and a link to the page; we like being quoted and we like the link more. Do not republish whole pieces, on a website or anywhere else, without asking first. The RSS feed is for reading, not for republication. Images are ours or used under licence; the alt text and the captions are ours.

Some links on this site may earn us a commission. Our Affiliate Disclosure says where they appear, how they are marked and what they do not change.

Warranties and liability

The site is provided as it is, when it is up. We do not promise that it will be available, free of errors or fit for any particular purpose, including the one you had in mind. We are not liable for anything you do, buy, stop buying or say at dinner as a result of reading it. A review of spoons is a review of spoons.

Governing law

None named. If there is a dispute, write to us at info@exertist.com and we will sort it out by email, like adults.

Changes

When these terms change we change this page and the date at the top of it. We do not send notifications. The date is the notification.
